Comments:  "Chief Joseph" Original Painting: SOLD 30x40 Gouache on board Prints Available Known for one of the most brilliant military retreats in American history, Chief Joseph led his band of 700 people, of which fewer than 200 were warriors, 1,400 miles North towards Canada against 2000 American soldiers. In October 1877, upon his formal surrender, he stated,..."I will fight no more forever." My admiration for all things Native American has prompted me to paint Chief Joseph along with several other Native American leaders.
