Comments:  "Red, White, and Sioux" Original Painting: SOLD 15x20 Oil over guache on board Prints Available Chief Sitting Bull (Tatanka Iyotaka), a distinguished leader among Native Americans is possibly the most famous chief in the world. He fought and won against Col. George Custer at Little Bighorn and eventually escaped into British Territory and after much meditation surrendered under pardon in 1880. As means for a living, Sitting Bull performed in Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West Show, but continued to advise tribal leaders not to surrender their lands. Sitting Bull never came to terms with "civilization" often saddened to see the number of homeless people living on the streets in American cities. He was often noted for giving money to hungry white people many times during his city visits.
