"To Love and Light" is an allegorical piece that touches on the idea that we are all dearly attracted to something. Here, we have a moth caught mid-flight as if time is truly at a standstill, which is something we hardly have control of. I don't wish to explain all the parts of this piece, as part of my artistry is to allow the viewer some personal perspective and interpretation. For me, the power behind this piece comes from the connection I make with it after spending what seems like countless hours painting it. I hope the viewer can sense that connection and make one of their own.
This original was painted with pastel on UART 600 paper mounted on to an archival panel. It has won the Stabilo Award in the 1st International Pastel Exhibition in Tivoli, Italy and the Schminke Award in the UART Online Pastel Competition.
